Coles County Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship

Dickson (Lenore) Medical Field Scholarships

Henry (Iva W. and Roy) Scholarship

Tuition Waivers for Children of Veterans - There is a tuition waiver available for children of Veterans living in Illinois. The waiver may be used for any University of Illinois campus. Up to six waivers per Illinois county are awarded each year, one for each of the following conflicts: World War II, Korean Conflict, Vietnam Conflict, Southwest Asia Conflict, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Students need to apply before March 1, 2011. Embarras River Basin Agency Scholarship (ERBA)

To qualify, the applicant’s household income must meet 200% of the Federal Poverty Level and the applicant must be enrolled in an Illinois college, junior college, or university full time. Applicants must have at least a “C” average and a transcript must accompany the application.

Scholarships are now available to all eligible high school seniors and Burger King employees.  Go online for more information.

KFC Colonel's Scholarship Program                                                    Due December 1, 2010      up to $20,000

This scholarship is for high school seniors with financial need and an entrepreneurial spirit.  To qualify, graduating high school seniors must: 1) have a minimum GPA of 2.75, 2) enroll in a public college or university in their state of residence, 3) plan to pursue a bachelor's degree, 4) demonstrate financial need.  Go online for more information.

Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers                          January    four $2,000 scholarships

The applicant must be a high school graduate or graduating in the year applying; have minimum of a "B" average, enrolled full-time and majoring in a curriculum which will be compatible with a career in the aggregates industry such as (but not limited to): Civil Engineering, Engineering Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Geological Engineering, Mineral Science or Mining Engineering.   Applications must be received on or before January 29, 2010.


Illinois Electric Cooperatives Memorial Scholarship Program            Seven $1250 scholarships                   

Four scholarships will be awarded to students who are the sons or daughters of an Illinois Electric Cooperative member receiving service from the cooperative at the time the scholarship application is submitted.  One scholarship will be awarded to a student who is the son or daughter of an Illinois Electric Cooperative employee or director. Two scholarships will be reserved for use at a two-year Illinois community college. The applicant must be a high school senior, and the scholarships must be used for educational costs at any two-year or four-year accredited college or university in Illinois, including vocational/technical schools.  Scholarship recipients’ must be a full-time student and awards are for one year only.

General Eligibility Requirements:
To apply for an RMHC scholarship, a student must:

  • Be a high school senior
  • Be younger than 21 years old
  • Be eligible to attend a two- or four-year college or university with a full course of study
  • Be a legal U.S. resident
  • Live in a participating RMHC Chapter’s geographic area
  • Submit a complete application and all required documentation by the deadline on the application
  • Meet any additional eligibility requirements outlined by each scholarship program
  • Verification of enrollment each year at the student’s accredited post-secondary institution

Edgar County Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship                                                         Due March 

There are no restrictions on choice of college or field of study.  However, the applicant must be a dependent or spouse of an "M" or "Voting" member of the Edgar County Farm Bureau.  The applicant also may qualify by being an "M" or "Voting" member of the Edgar County Farm Bureau him/herself.  The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of exceptional scholastic ability, leadership, involvement in activities, and/or financial need.  If anyone should have a question about their membership status, they should contact the Farm Bureau office Monday - Friday, 8-12 and 1-4:30.

The illinois Emplyment and Training Association will award 3 total scholarships to graduating seniors from the Class of 2011.  The applicant must demonstrate a need for financial assistance and be in the top 50% of their class.  The applicants must reside in Illinois and plan on attending a community college or four year institution in Illinois; priority given to those who are majoring in Accounting or Business.


Champaign-Urbana Business and Professional Women's Club Scholarship     Due May 20, 2011

This scholarship is for new and continuing female students who need financial assistance.   Women returning to school to further their education are especially encouraged to apply.   This scholarship is primarily based on need.  Female students attending any community college or university in this area are eligible (includes DACC, Parkland, EIU and U of I).  Applications can be picked up in the DACC Foundation Office, Vermilion Hall, Room 209.

The DACC Scholarship Application is available on-line via the DACC website.    Students who are interested in downloading the application should go to http://www.dacc.edu/depts/foundation/.     Students can download copies from DACC's website in either WORD or .pdf format.   A complete application includes the application form, an official high school transcript, personal essay and letter of reference.   Only complete applications will be accepted.   

National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors-East Central Illinois (NAIFA-ECI) Scholarship
In honor of Paul Brumaghim , a local insurance agent who passed away, NAIFA-ECI (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors-East Central Illinois) sponsors 2 scholarships to students interested in pursuing a career in Business, Insurance or Financial Services field. Vermilion County Conservation District Scholarship - The Vermilion County Conservation District Foundation will provide a $500 scholarship to a graduating high school student or a student enrolled in college studying conservation and/or environmental science.   The applicant must be a resident of Vermilion County and have at least a  3.5 GPA on 4.0 scale or a 4.25 GPA on a 5.0 scale.   The deadline to apply is May 1, 2011.    Applications and additional information can be found at vccdfoundation.org or may be picked up in the DACC Foundation Office, Vermilion Hall, Room 209.

Edgar County Lord Scholarship
                                                        Due March 31, 2011                                   
Established by the Mary B. and Shelby A. Price Foundation, Inc. in memory of Livingston C. Lord, President of Eastern Illinois University from 1899 until 1933, this award is presented annually to deserving graduating seniors from Edgar County high schools. Scholarship application available at bottom of this page.  Apply to the Eastern Illinois University Foundation or high school counselor.

Oland Hanner Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Scholarship              
Recipients of this scholarship must be enrolled full-time and have graduated from a high school in either Edgar County or Coles County. 


Lake Land College                                                                       Due March 1, 2011

The Lake Land College Foundation Scholarship Application is available on-line via the LLC website.  For the convenience of the applicant and to expedite the process, students should apply online at www.lakelandcollege.edu/foundation.  Students only need to submit one application for all of the Foundation Scholarships. Students may submit a paper application if they prefer; these can be picked up from Mrs. Coffer.

I cannot stress enough the importance of the three short essay questions on the back page of the application.  The student's composite score of his/her answers is often the basis for the scholarship award.  Members of the Scholarship Committee continue to urge students to carefully answer the questions in detail and proof their work.      


SIU-C

Legacy Scholarship -  The Legacy Scholarship is set up to assist those students who have a relative that is an alumnus of Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Scholarship applicants who have a parent, grandparent, sibling, step-parent or legal guardian that is an SIU alumnus and has been an active member of the SIU Alumni Association for three of the past five years. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2011.   Additional information and application can be found at www.siualumni.com/scholarships


SIU-E

SIUE Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship - The Alumni Association’s Board of Directors awards two full scholarships- one to a current undergraduate student and one to an incoming SIUE freshman- in addition to five $100 scholarships. The children, grandchildren, siblings and spouses of SIUE alumni who are current Alumni Association members are eligible to receive this award. Applicants are judged not only on their GPA and ACT/SAT scores, but also on their community service, after-school activities and financial need. Alumni who are not Association members but who have a son or daughter, grandchild or sibling who is interested in the SIUE Alumni Association Scholarship must become Association members prior to the receipt of the scholarship application. Stahlschmidt Family Legacy Scholarship - The Stahlschmidt Family Legacy Scholarship will award two $1,500 scholarships to incoming SIUE students. Applicants must be incoming freshman or transfer students to SIUE and must be enrolled full-time at the University. Applicants will be judged on financial need, GPA, ACT/SAT scores, community service, after-school activities and essay questions. Deadline to submit an application is February 26, 2010. University of Illinois
Sigma Phi Epsilon scholarships are available for incoming male students who have excelled in the areas of scholarship, leadership, athletics, and community service during their high school careers.  To qualify, you must be a full-time student at the U of I during the Fall of 2009.  Applications available in Ms. Coffer's office or online at www.illinoissigeps.com.
 
The Children of Veterans Tution Waiver                                                             Due March 1, 2011
The Children of Veterans Tution Wavier is a four-year (consecutive) tution waiver at the University of Illinois. Applications for the 2010-2011  academic year will be available after December 1, 2010.  Go online for more information.

University of Illinois East Central Illinois Alumni Club scholarship is for high school seniors who are planning to attend the University of Illinois.
